The Northeastern Association of Forensic Scientists is designed as an opportunity to exchange ideas and information within the field of forensic science, and to foster friendship and cooperation among the various laboratory personnel. The organization works to encourage a high level of competency among professionals in the field of forensic science and to promote recognition of forensic science as an important component of the criminal justice system. NEAFS also works to stimulate increased implementation of existing techniques, along with research and
development of new techniques within the field, and to encourage financial support for these efforts. Sessions at the annual meeting include presentations on new technologies in trace/arson and explosives, criminalistics, toxicology, role of ethics in scientific court testimony, future trends in forensic DNA technology and much more.
