Advance Your Research Skills: Join Our Team

CSAFE, a NIST Center of Excellence, is a well-established team of expert forensic science researchers and experienced practitioners. Our team is increasing the scientific foundations of pattern and digital evidence through innovative research and training opportunities. Our dynamic community is passionate about contributing to the fair administration to justice, and committed to mentoring the next generation of leading researchers.

Our center values talented young scientists who are interested in partnering with us to improve the United States criminal justice system. We often have opportunities for undergraduate students who are enthusiastic about advancing science through engaging research.

CSAFE undergraduate research positions will advance your problem solving, professional communication and research skills. You will work alongside our team of statisticians, scientists, post-doctoral scholars and graduate students on complex and challenging projects in areas such as firearms, handwriting, bloodspatter and shoeprint analysis.  CSAFE students gain hands-on experience in all aspects of research to include interpreting current literature, data collection and analysis.  We also provide opportunities for students to improve oral and poster presentation skills.

We reward students who are committed to innovation and excellence. If you are interested in gaining valuable professional experience to prepare for a career in the criminal justice, forensic science, judicial and related fields, we invite you to inquire about our available opportunities.
